HandsOn
Therapy offers a basic program that fulfills the minimum
amount of education needed to fulfill registration
requirements for the State of Texas, as well as advanced
programs and continuing education classes.
Basic Program
This entry level course of instruction
prepares students in Basic Massage
technique and knowledge for the purpose
of fulfilling registration requirements
for the State of Texas. Upon completion,
students are awarded a Certificate of
Completion.
The Basic Program is divided into 450
hours of specific subjects and 50 hours of Internship at our
in school clinic. The HandsOn Therapy clinic is a high traffic
spa environment that offers our students the ability to
quickly finish up their state requirements while working in a
similar environment to their upcoming workplace.
Completion time for this Certificate is
14 weeks for a student attending full
time and 28 weeks for part time
students.
The student must sit for and pass the
State of Texas examination before full
licensure is received.

Master Program
The Master
Massage Therapist
Program consists of 450 hours of the Basic Program
(plus 50 hrs internship) and 250 hours of specific subjects
in an advanced focus. This advanced program is designed to
provide extended education and the training necessary to
fulfill student needs for occupational placement where more
education is required, for National Testing, portability to
other states, specific job requirement by employers, etc.;
thus increasing marketability of the Therapist and allows
therapists to practice in many other states. A Master
Massage Therapist will be able to establish a client base
and be able to interact with clients on a professional
level. The interaction will include client interview, visual
and physical assessment and application of modalities. The
Master Massage Therapist will also establish and network
with other healthcare professionals by receiving and sending
referrals with the exchange of written history and session
documentation. The Master Massage Therapist will identify
and use modalities associated with specific disease/injuries
and know when the clients needs are beyond their scope of
practice and/or current knowledge. A current knowledge base
of at least 5 modalities common to the industry and current
knowledge of the laws, rules, statutes and regulations
pertaining to massage therapy is required and must be
complied with, including liability issues. The Students can
complete the program in 5-10 months. Upon completion,
the students receive a Certificate of Completion and a
Certificate in their area of focus.

Advanced
Program
The Advanced
Massage Therapist Program consists of 450 hours of the Basic
Program (plus 50 hrs internship) and 100 hours of specific
subjects in an advanced focus plus 50 hours of
internship.
This advanced program is designed to provide
extended education and the training necessary to fulfill
student needs for occupational placement where more
education is required, for National Testing, portability to
other states, specific job requirement by employers, etc.;
thus increasing marketability of the Therapist and allows
therapists to practice in many other states. An Advanced
Massage Therapist will be able to establish a client base
and be able to interact with clients on a professional
level. The interaction will include client interviews,
visual and physical assessment and application of
modalities. The Advanced Massage Therapist will identify and
use modalities associated with specific conditions and know
when the client’s needs are beyond their scope of practice
and/or current knowledge.
A current
knowledge base of at least three modalities common to the
industry and current knowledge of typical conditions that
the industry treats is needed. Also, a current knowledge of
laws, rules, statutes and regulations pertaining to massage
therapy is required.
Students can
complete the program in 4-7 months. Upon completion, the
students receive a Certificate of Completion.

Internship
HandsOn
Therapy operates
a full service Clinic that offers
Intern level massage. This
allows our students to complete
their Internship requirements
in-house and with a supplied
clientele.
Interns are supplied with one
uniform shirt during their
internship at the HandsOn Therapy
clinic. The school supplies
reservation
system and late model massage
tables.
